The No-No White Sox
Why have the White Sox totally tanked? At this point they are 5 games back, and barring a Twins collapse, stick a fork in us, 'cause they're done. Was it the fact that they lost Maggs and Frank? Was it the bullpen? The fact that they lost our two best offensive players certainly hurt a lot, and is evidenced in the low run-scoring and batting average during the losing streak. Of course, the aforementioned walks and blown innings points to a bad bullpen. But it's not just that. This team, for whatever reason, has no ability to perform under pressure. In almost every crucial situation, they've failed. Every time we gained a couple games on the twinkies, they got them right back. Sweeping them in the Metrodome seemed like it was the turning point; then we got swept right back by the cubs, and then got swept again by the twins in chicago. And now we are getting beat by DETROIT! Whatever the reason is, this season is basically over for the White Sox. Which is sad, because talent-wise, they have a better lineup, starting rotation, and bullpen (other than the last few games) than the rest of the central. So what is it? Bad coaching? Bad leadership? Mental hurdles? Damned if I know, but now at least I remember why I hate baseball.
Oh, and way to trade away my favorite pitcher. The White Sox have a knack for doing that. Hey, but at least we got another pitcher who can blow away bad teams and lose to divisonal rivals.
