Finnigan takes a bite of the apple

Bob Finnigan has done it – an article that is fine, dandy, and irrefutable. How could he pull off such a feat, you ask? By letting his tape recorder write the piece for him. His article in today’s Seattle Times is more of a Brett Boone monologue, discussing his younger days, learning how to behave as a major leaguer from Pineilla, Buhner, Bosio, etc., and how he is doing the same for the young kids (now 9 Tacoma call-ups by my count - Finnigan says 10) today. Out of 1275 words, 786 are Boone’s. (and the answer to your question is Yes, I have no life). No Mariners’ front office financial tricks, or anything of the sort, just Boone discussing how he learned to play the game the “right way.” Even more surprising, Finnigan doesn’t exploit this opportunity to discuss how being a veteran and playing the “right way” translate into better performance on the field. I’m shocked that he would pass up the opportunity to put forth more of the crap he fed us in the off-season. Could this old dog be learning new tricks?

Edit 12:52: 10 Tacoma kiddies if you count Meche.
